We spend a lot of our adult life in the workplace, and workplace friendships have so many benefits including feeling supported, increased motivation, working well as a team and increased job satisfaction. Georgia, Admin Assistant at Browns Field House told us about her friendship with Jennie and how she's made a friend for life.
"Jennie and I first met in July 2014 when I started working at Abbeyfield Girton Green. She was the one who trained me in one of my roles as a steward and we hit it off instantly! After working together closely we very quickly became not only colleagues, but also good friends. Jennie then moved on to administration at Girton Green and I worked for Care at Home, but we still always found time to spend together, both at work and socially. Working alongside one of your best friends is obviously a great bonus for anyone!"
"In July 2018, Jennie obtained a new position as admin at Abbeyfield Brownsfield House, where I had previously worked, whilst I stayed working for Care at Home, based at Girton Green. Although we did not see each other every day we still managed to find time for one another and always spoke at least once a day. On my days off I would often go over to Browns Field House to help out with some admin tasks - and to see my Jennie!"
"Working alongside one of your best friends is obviously a great bonus for anyone!"
"After the closure of Care at Home in December 2020, I transferred over to Browns Field House, working alongside Jennie once again. Although we spend 5 days a week working alongside each other, I still see Jennie most weekends and some evenings too! We have been on holiday, bridesmaids together and even lived together at one point. Thanks to Abbeyfield we have gained a great friendship in one another, which I am certain will be for life."
