We're thrilled to be opening up our new, purpose built, dementia friendly extension at Westall House in the coming weeks! The extension is homely, small and intimate, allowing personalised and highly attentive care for all it's residents.

Westall House is a well established care home in the heart of Horsted Keynes, West Sussex with an 'Outstanding' rating by the CQC.

In the new dementia friendly unit, rooms have been fully furnished and styled with a calming décor throughout, all with en-suite bathrooms. Assisted bathing facilities have been designed to provide a safe, secure and comforting environment for residents. Some other features of the new unit include quiet rooms, activity rooms and spa bathrooms.

Residents will also be able to enjoy the landscaped gardens and countryside setting where the house is situated.

How does dementia friendly care differ from residential care?

Residential Care is designed for those with personal care needs requiring one-to-one support from a qualified carer. Residents live with the security of on-site staff who are there 24 hours a day to provide support and companionship. We meet every resident and, where possible, their family before the resident moves in to define what level of care and service is most appropriate.

Dementia Friendly Care is much like residential care, however has been tailored to help support residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia or other forms of memory loss. We understand that dementia affects each of our residents differently, so we tailor our support to suit each person.

It is through the personal connections between our staff and residents that help maintain relationships, identity and individuality, so an enriched quality of life can be enjoyed. Our staff are trained to value the individual’s needs and preferences and care for them in a safe and secure environment.

Wonderful home-cooked meals made by a team of talented chefs will be served to residents daily, taking into account any dietary requirements.

Westall House are also known for parties and events. Those moving in to the new unit will be able to join in on a year-round calendar of activities and events such as, valentines lunches, quizzes, round the world dinners, guest singers and speakers, film nights and more!
