Cook, Girton Green, Cambridge

At Abbeyfield Girton Green we are looking to recruit a Cook to provide freshly cooked meals per day to our group of older residents. You will be responsible for cooking meals so that residents enjoy a varied and nutritious diet in accordance with their dietary requirements and nutrition and hydration needs.

As cook you will be working with the chef manager responsible for the delivery of  wide and varied dishes.  You will be required to cook and prepare meals following establishment recipes. Duties will include preparing ingredients, adhering to the restaurant menu, and following food health and safety procedures within our fast-paced environment.  Candidates must have the ability to communicate and interact well with people, be polite and committed to providing a customer focused service showing an understanding of the needs of older people. Candidates will be required to  travel for training as required.

At Abbeyfield we aim to support residents to live independently providing two freshly cooked meals per day. You will be responsible for cooking, resident plans, supporting activities and fundraising as part of the team. All training will be given and you will have regular supervision, reporting to the House Manager. 

You will be responsible for the preparation of fresh, locally sourced food on site in our commercial kitchen.   You will need to have or be prepared to completed a Level 2 in food hygiene and maintain standards in line with Safer food, better business.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the needs of older people, experience of working with the public and an ability to work on own initiative. But above all, you care as much as we do and you’re passionate about making all the difference for older people.

Located in the picturesque community of Girton, just on the outskirts of Cambridge, Girton Green was built in 2012 providing 76 one, two, or three bedroom modern, high quality apartments for sale or rent in a welcoming and vibrant community led development.
