General Assistant, Chadlington, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire

As a General Assistant at The Old Bakehouse House, our supported house in Chadlington, you'll help maintain a clean environment in all areas of the house to maximise residents' comfort and overall enjoyment of their surroundings. You will ensure all communal areas of the house are clean and tidy at all times and to the required standards.

Location: The Old Bakehouse, West End, Chadlington, Chipping Norton, OX7 3NJ
Salary: £9.00 per hour
Hours: Permanent Part-Time/Mondays to Wednesdays 9am - 1pm per week

The Old Bake House is a friendly, welcoming house situated in a lovely, quiet village with picturesque view of the countryside. A large garden, with a lovely summer house to enjoy in the summertime. Shared meal times are enjoyable and full of good company.

A General Assistant’s role consists of cleaning the communal areas of the house, assisting the Housekeeper with meal service and supporting the residents whilst working as part of a small team. Duty sheets will be provided and General Assistants are expected to complete the tasks allocated and sign them off. General Assistants may also be asked to assist with event planning, resident outings and other special occasions. They must have the ability to communicate well with others, show an understanding of others needs and be willing to travel for training as required. Shift patterns will include working every other weekend.

Our House Manager Emma is very approachable and passionate about her role.  She manages the house effectively, with a great team behind her. The team of people who you will be working with are very caring, and passionate about our residents. You will be responsible for the cleaning of all the communal areas, resident’s bathrooms, and assisting the Cook during lunch-time.

Other duties will include the cleaning of all communal areas such as the communal bathrooms and cloak room/toilet, main kitchen, residents' bathrooms, laundry area, corridors and hallways throughout, communal lounge and dining room, guest and utility rooms and office as required.  

Other responsibilities include:

  • to report to the House Manager on stock levels of cleaning materials
  • to check, fold or iron any house laundry and wash or dry according to daily requirements
  • to assist the Cook in serving of the main meal and clearing away afterwards
  • to report to the House Manager and enter into the maintenance book any household faults or equipment failure
  • to be aware of Health and Safety including COSHH regulations and fire procedures
