Located in the picturesque community of Girton, just on the outskirts of Cambridge, Girton Green was built in 2012 providing 76 one, two, or three bedroom modern, high quality apartments for sale or rent in a welcoming and vibrant community led development.
Our ethos remains the same as our founder’s first house and is always at the forefront of everything we do; being connected in the local community, helping to alleviate loneliness, and helping our residents maintain their independence.
Spend time on ‘The Street’, where you’ll find our resident led coffee shop, jigsaw corner, and is a hub where we host a range of community activities – the perfect place to catch up and socialise with friends. Alternatively, we have an activities room with a fully equipped computer suite and is the venue for many resident led clubs and activities. We also have a purpose built cinema where you can join us for Film Club, concerts and national sporting events.
As a resident, you’ll have access to a wide range of services including full use of our luxurious spa facilities. We place an importance on maintaining your health and well-being and in our spa you’ll find a fully equipped gym, pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Other services available include a visiting hairdresser, a beautician who also does holistic massages and we also have a regular minibus service for shopping and activities, all of which ensure that our residents have lots of time to relax and enjoy life at Girton Green.
We have great community involvement here, with The Girton Bowls Club right across from our house who use our restaurant for refreshments after their matches. Some of our residents play there each week, which is great if you like to join team sports or would like to watch a game.
At Girton Green, we want to make sure our residents have a say and are happy whilst living with us, so we have a residents committee who meet and represent the interests of our residents by acting as the communication channel between them and management.

Amanda joined the Abbeyfield Society in 2014 covering East Anglia and parts of the East Regional Team. She has over 20 years experience in the housing, health and social care sector.

I joined Abbeyfield Girton Green in February 2022, and brought with me 16 years communal living experience from South Africa. My role involves figures and people, and keeping an harmonious balance between the two, and it is this day to day diversity that makes my role both challenging and rewarding.

My role is to support managers to ensure the day-to-day office operations run efficiently. I welcome guests, handle resident’s enquiries and redirect phone calls. I distribute correspondence, update financial records and process invoices. My role allows me to constantly develop my skill set.

As restaurant supervisor I oversee all restaurant operations to ensure the restaurant runs smoothly. I train and supervise staff and ensure food health and safety regulations are met. I most enjoy the social aspect of my role where I get to meet a variety of people from different backgrounds.
