Located in Rugby, Jim Gillespie House provides residential care for older people including those who may experience hearing or visual impairments, or need assistance with personal care and/or mobility, offering a homely, friendly and welcoming home for our residents.
Our home
We have 30 single rooms; 25 on the ground floor and five on the upper floor, 13 rooms have a toilet and wash hand basin and four rooms have full en-suite shower rooms. Each room comes with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and soft furnishings but you are welcome to bring your own furniture to make it a real home from home.
Communal spaces
As well as a place where we enjoy shared meal times, our communal dining room has a snack bar with light refreshments, which residents and their family and friends can enjoy when spending time with each other.
Activities and events
At Jim Gillespie we offer a dynamic weekly programme of activities for you to enjoy including pet therapy visits, exercise classes and films afternoons. Our Activity Co-ordinator holds beauty sessions, seasonal arts and crafts sessions as well as one to one activity sessions with residents.
We offer a Library service, Holy Communion, and live entertainment from musicians. We always love welcoming visitors from local art groups, farms and reminiscence groups. We have fantastic links with the local primary school, who often come in for intergenerational activities.

GA Team Leader

I have worked at Abbeyfield for just over a year. I love coming to work as I get to talk to residents and their families and hear some amazing life stories. I do activities with residents that make them really happy. Seeing them smile is the best part of the job. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and my hobby is photography.
Lisa

I have worked at Abbeyfield for 9 years, I love being able to cook homemade nutritional food for the residents. I like to find out what the residents likes and dislikes are and where possible order things that they like. In my spare time I enjoy dancing, yoga, crosswords, puzzles, reading and walking.
