Welcome to our house

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic Abbeyfield House is temporarily closed for the safety of residents and staff. We look forward to welcoming residents back to the house once the situation improves.

Set in the heart of Fulwood, Abbeyfield House offers a warm and friendly welcome into a real family environment. The house was built in the 1920’s with high ceilings and ornate décor, makes this house a truly attractive place to live.

We are close to local shops which are in walking distance of the house, where you can easily pick up your daily essentials. There is a bus stop right outside the house should you wish to travel into the centre of Sheffield which is approximately three miles away.

There are six ensuite rooms here at Abbeyfield House, four single rooms and two large rooms that each have a separate bedroom and living room. Each room is a blank canvas ready for you to bring your own furniture and personal items to decorate as you wish.

We have a peaceful lounge which overlooks our balcony patio area with its glass balustrades allowing you to see the views of our stunning gardens.

We are very proud of our gardens, which are surrounded by tall trees creating a wonderful haven for you to enjoy. It is bursting with colour, bordered by bright flourishing flowers that attract an array of wildlife.

Our residents enjoy spending time together, therefore we have regular coffee and games mornings at the local scout hut and a lunch group at the local church.

Every year we organise a Christmas fair and hold a strawberry tea where we invite residents’ families and friends, people in the local community, friends of the house and those who are interested in living here with us. We have a Christmas party with festive food and Christmas carols and also make a special trip to see the Christmas Lights which is very much enjoyed by all.

We like to celebrate residents’ birthdays with them and regularly give them the opportunity to socialise and spend time together.

As soon as you walk through the door, smell the delicious home cooked food and see all the smiling faces waiting to greet you, you will be ready to pull up a chair and settle in to our beautiful family home.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield Christchurch Society.

Meet the team

House Manager

It is a privilege to work with such a great staff team and a joy to be supporting our residents. I cannot think of a better place to work.

Deputy House Manager

Abbeyfield House has always been and still is a huge part of my life. I’ve never viewed it as working but just as being with my ‘other’ family.

I love coming to work and I’ve got great people to work with. I find the feedback, thanks and gratitude the most rewarding part of my job.

It's the little things that make a difference

What's happening at the house

What our residents say

I have a lovely large room at the top of the house with beautiful views over Sheffield’s Mayfield Valley. There is a happy atmosphere at Abbeyfield House and the staff are all very helpful. For me, living here takes away the pressure of running your own house and leaves me time to pursue my other interests.

Rosemary, Resident

I enjoy eating in a group and all of our meals are home cooked and tasty. The staff are all very friendly, work as a team and it is clear that they are all friends and get on well.

Mike, Resident

When I first arrived I felt I had found a real home. The staff are friendly, and requests are dealt with efficiently and laundry service is excellent. The food is varied, well cooked and well presented.

Marjorie, Resident
