Supported Houses and Care Homes in Scotland are geographically spread across the country and managed by their individual committees. No two ASiS houses are the same – for example Ballachuilish in addition to their core services provides accommodation and services in support of the local NHS, Perth has independent living bungalows whilst Kirkcaldy provides day care and outreach services within their community.

Our ethos is to make time and provide housing, support and companionship to older people. As a charity we operate a not for profit model so that our focus is on providing quality accommodation, care and support for our residents.

All ASiS member houses and homes are regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate in accordance with Scottish regulations and standards. We also have to meet the requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council, the Scottish Housing Regulator and The Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator. Finally, we have a National Care Home contract that defines standards for the care and nursing home sector in Scotland, in conjunction with the Care Inspectorate.

There are also matters such as separate minimum pay rates for care and nursing staff, national rates for social funded care. All of the above bodies adhere to legislation laid down by the Scottish Government.  Abbeyfield Societies in Scotland ensures that any legislation changes are identified to member societies so that they can be put into place within all homes. ASiS also acts as a liaison point with the Care Inspectorate and S.S.S.C. to ensure that the special nature of the service an Abbeyfield provides is recognised when inspection and regulation are being enacted.
