The Abbeyfield Scarecrow Competition encouraged our residents, staff and volunteers to create a scarecrow with a famous or friendly face, to help show off their creative flair. We had a great number of entries to help to put our houses and homes on the map.

World Menopause Day is held on the 18th October every year to raise awareness of the menopause, break the stigma, and provide supportive options to help improve the health and wellbeing of all women going through the menopause. In 2022, the theme for World Menopause Day is cognition and mood.

The Abbeyfield Society has officially achieved accreditation as a menopause friendly employer. The process involved a very detailed submission to an external assessment panel, from which we received extremely positive feedback.

Where we live as we get older is important; many people will often speak about retiring to be close to the seaside, the countryside, or a particular town or city. However, one of the main things to consider is what we need as we get older. We look at why having a safe and secure home is important for older people.
