Your Induction

At The Abbeyfield Society* we recognise the first weeks within a new role are fundamental. As a new starter you will get the support from your manager, team members and nominated buddy, to help you settle into your role.

We provide our new starters with the right development and guidance during the induction period so you can grow and progress within your role quickly.

Our Learning Management System (LMS)

We have our very own learning management system called the Abbeyfield Development Academy, where you will find all learning available to you.

You'll find specific new starter courses available within the Abbeyfield Development Academy to support you throughout your first few months. We offer a varied range of courses to help you settle into your role quickly.

Within these courses there's a mixture of resources that include opportunities to support your own personal development and your team's, as well as our business and regulatory responsibility and succession planning.

Our resources have been adapted to suit many different learning preferences, you'll find courses that contain e-learning modules which are also supported by virtual and face to face learning, as well as relevant policies, resources and guidance.

The great news is our academy is accessible 24/7, so you can learn at your own pace and you'll also be given access to these resources when you've been offered the job, even before your start date, so you can start developing before you arrive.

The Abbeyfield Development Academy will be there to support you throughout your entire career with us at Abbeyfield.

Professional standards

Abbeyfield is an apprenticeship levy paying organisation and we are committed to the development of our workforce and we utilise the levy funds to invest and upskill our current workforce via apprenticeships – within Abbeyfield these are branded as Professional Standards.

We have developed a suite of guidance to provide our learners with the knowledge and tools to understand the process, potential pathways and programmes available as well as the commitment expected. We run campaigns for professional standards throughout the year and are open for applications three times per year. There is a wide range of professional standard opportunities available, ranging from frontline health and social care and catering to maintenance and housing management, amongst many others.
