Purpose built in 1992 and renovated in 2015, Halcyon House is a residential and nursing care home in Formby, a large village on the coast north of Liverpool.
We have 31 en-suite bedrooms, each with a profiling bed, dressing table, armchair and plenty of wardrobe space. Each room has have a built-in wardrobe and french doors. There are three small communal lounges for residents to use as well as a large sun lounge overlooking our peaceful secluded courtyard garden and fish pond; the perfect place to sit back and relax.
From games, quizzes and bingo to chair-based exercise classes and coffee mornings, our varied and engaging programme of activities means there is something for everyone here and plenty for you to get involved with if you wish. Volunteers from the local library call once a month, bringing books for those who like to read and we also have a fantastic volunteer-led mobile shop that visits weekly.
As many of those who live with us are unable to manage trips out anymore, we aim to bring the community in as much as possible, supported by local churches, primary schools and entertainers. Christmas is an extra special time for everyone at the house, where we enjoy a big party and have plenty of guests throughout the festive period to put on various performances for us.
Situated in the large village of Formby, Halcyon House is just a short distance from the village centre and is close to public transport links. We are near to a few pubs and a short dive from the nearest beach. For the nature lovers, we are very close to the Formby National Trust site where you can visit beautiful coastal areas, take stunning walks and even see some rare wildlife such as the wild red squirrel.

Resident at Halcyon House
Thank you for everything you did for my mother over the last few months. The nursing team took such good care of her and were hugely supportive towards us. Mum was incredibly fond of Mandy and felt assured by her cheerful helpfulness and she made a big difference to me whenever I needed to call and ask questions.
