Welcome to Nower House, a beautiful purpose-built residential care home located on the edge of the beautiful Georgian town centre of Dorking, overlooking Surrey's renowned Box Hill. With 44 beautifully appointed rooms, our care home is divided into two annexes, the Woodcote, and the Nera, offering residents the perfect balance of independence with the support of 24-hour care.

Nower House underwent a complete refurbishment in 2022, creating a stunning environment where residents can unwind and enjoy socializing. Our home features inviting lounges, elegant restaurants, charming conservatories, and picturesque gardens, providing ample spaces for relaxation and social interaction.

Ideally situated, Nower House benefits from its proximity to a bus route and train station, serving both the local area and London. Within a ten-minute walk, residents can explore a selection of local shops, restaurants, and amenities, including a leisure centre. Surrounded by stunning countryside views, our location in an area of outstanding natural beauty, offers plenty of opportunity for wonderful countryside walks and enjoying the tranquillity of nature.

To ensure our residents' health and well-being, Nower House is conveniently served by a local doctors' surgery, with the option for family doctors to visit the home.

Our rooms

Each of our 44 bedrooms, spread across the ground and first floors, provides a comfortable home for our residents. All rooms are designed as single en-suites, equipped with a toilet, hand basin, with some rooms featuring their own showers. Abundant natural light, tasteful decor, carpeting, free-standing wardrobes, and call bells add to the comfort, convenience, and peace of mind. We also offer guest facilities, allowing visiting family and friends to stay overnight.

Whilst we provide furniture for the rooms, we encourage residents to personalise their rooms own small furniture, ornaments, and personal effects. This personalisation allows residents to create a space that truly reflects their individuality, enhances their sense of belonging, and helps make it feel like home.

Communal spaces

Nower House has several communal spaces designed to promote connection and enjoyment. Our two lounge/dining rooms, two TV rooms, library, and lovely conservatory provide residents with ample options for relaxation and socialising. The pleasant gardens, adorned with large, mature trees, captivating shrubs, and blooming tubs, offer a serene and picturesque backdrop that residents can appreciate throughout the day.

Activities and events

We are dedicated to providing a varied calendar of activities and trips year-round, promoting engagement of both body and mind. Our residents have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fulfilling activities that cater to their interests and preferences. Additionally, we offer on-site chiropody treatments and weekly hairdressing appointments in our salon for a small additional cost.

Food

At Nower House we understand that the importance of providing good quality, nutritious, home-cooked food. It plays a key part in health and well-being and in ensuring an overall positive experience in our residents’ daily lives. All our food is locally sourced and freshly prepared each day. Our staff provide a varied and balanced menu and will cater for dietary needs and individual preferences, where requested. We also have snacks and drinks readily available from cooled dispensers in both Lounges and water jugs in every bedroom, throughout the day.

Many of our residents enjoy the social aspect of mealtimes by taking their meals in our comfortable communal Dining rooms, however you can enjoy your meal with more privacy in the Quiet Lounge, TV rooms or Conservatory. 

Respite care

For those seeking respite care, we offer tailored packages throughout the year, providing short-term support in a warm and caring environment.
