Built in the early 1900’s Abbeyfield House is a converted Victorian house set within beautiful walled gardens consisting of a multitude of plants, flowers and our wonderful summer house. The house is situated next to the town centre high street, close to local amenities such as Leigh market, shops and transport links enabling you to travel to surrounding areas. The local Wigan and Leigh Pensioners Link is in the next street and the Bingo Hall, Cinema complex and mobility centre are just a short walk away.
We have 10 one-bedroomed apartments and nine bedsit rooms, each with ensuite facilities. The house has three communal shower/bathrooms, a dining room with outside decking, a conservatory lounge with Sky TV, a lower conservatory lounge and a quiet enclosed courtyard.
Our summer house has a television, games, jigsaws and books that you can help yourself to. There is a large heated gazebo in the garden comfortably furnished and plenty of seating within the garden. There is also a greenhouse and vegetable patch for those residents who would like to do a bit of gardening.
The house is fortunate to have two libraries, one for DVD’s and CD’s and one for books, our quiet enclosed courtyard is perfect for reading and our Residents Internet Corner is available for you to browse the internet or contact friends and family. We also have free wifi available.
Our communal dining room is the heart of the home, where our delicious and nutritious meals are served every day.
Our most important strengths and core values lie with the house staff and management committee, who are made up of local people with the necessary skills to manage the accommodation successfully.
All religious dominations and faiths are welcome here at Abbeyfield, and residents are encouraged to attend their place of worship should they wish to do so.
House managers live in, and are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing you extra peace of mind.
