Located in the beautiful town of Crowborough bordering Ashdown Forest, an area of natural beauty and the home of Winnie the Pooh, Darwin House provides sheltered housing, also known as supported housing, in a friendly, homely atmosphere for people who want to enjoy retirement.
The house was originally two Edwardian semi detached properties, subsequently joined and converted into suitable accommodation for older people to live independently with support. Nutritious, hot home cooked meals are provided seven days a week and ingredients for breakfast are provided allowing residents to start the day at their leisure. We have eight en-suite rooms and a one-bedroom flat, suitable for two people, with level access showers and each room has wifi access enabling you to browse online or chat with friends and family.
Darwin House boasts a very attractive garden with a conservatory, porch, patio and seating area. If you have a car you can bring this with you as we have a car park available.
The house is located at the bottom of Crowborough Hill, there is a medical centre close by which includes a pharmacy and dentist. The main line station, taxi service and bus stop are within walking distance. There is a mini-market within walking distance as well as the local park which is perfect for a stroll in the fresh air.
It is a small, homely and friendly retirement home and we are very proud to have achieved the Abbeyfield Core Standard award of excellence.
Darwin House is managed by the Abbeyfield Crowborough Society.
