Situated in the historic city of Cambridge, famous for its world-renowned university, punting on the River Cam, cycling and traditional English Heritage, Browns Field House is a dementia care home nestled in a quiet residential area offering tailored and personalised care to meet your individual needs, all delivered by a caring, dedicated and professional team of staff. For extra peace of mind we offer 24 hour care, have an alarm system and are able to provide care for people with conditions including dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke and mental health problems.
Established in 1986, Browns Field House has 28 rooms with some suitable for couples. Seven of our rooms come with en-suite facilities and you will find walk in showers or assisted baths on every corridor. As a smaller house, we are very homely and our staff work hard to ensure that we offer a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere. The house has recently been redecorated throughout with new flooring and a brand new kitchen to be fitted in the near future.
One of our main values is being involved in the community and we have established excellent links including using local suppliers to provide the house with fresh produce for our nutritious home cooked meals. Additionally, we have great relationships with our local GP and district nurses who come to visit the house twice a month or as required.
In 2019 we were delighted to have our own sensory room built, which created a quiet and soothing area for our residents to relax in or participate in activities.
The house has good transport links with local buses to take you into the centre of Cambridge every 10 minutes and the train station is just a short walk from the house. In the centre you will find many shops and restaurants and the beautiful River Cam.
We have many special areas you can explore including a telephone box, little shop where you can buy things and a beautiful sensory garden, which makes use of bright colour and contrast; found to make life easier for someone who is living with dementia, filled with flowers and sensory items. The house is also within easy reach of local shops, the community centre, post office and pubs.
