Our home

Speedwell Court is a purpose built Abbeyfield care home in Southampton. Our home provides an exclusive setting, high-quality residential and residential dementia friendly care services that are sure to exceed expectation.

Our care home is one of the most modern and state of the art care homes in Southampton, with 80 en-suite rooms arranged over 5 households of 16 rooms in total, helping to create a more intimate setting for our residents. Each household benefitting from their own lounge and dining suite.

Each room is fully furnished with calming décor but you are welcome to personalise your own room to your liking and comes with its own walk-in wet room styled bathroom. Each household benefits from its own assisted spa bathroom including Jacuzzi-jet bath in which to indulge in a sensory soak.

We are committed to promoting health and wellbeing for those who come to live with us, providing purpose and bringing enjoyment to daily life in a charming environment. Should your needs change over time, we will support you to live independently with peace of mind that our team are always there for you. We are not just a care home, we are a home that cares.

Our location

There are a great number of care homes in Southampton to choose from, what makes Speedwell Court unique and special is that we are located in the picturesque town of Eastleigh, five miles east of the city of Southampton.  Our care home is just a four-minute drive from Southampton Airport with direct train links to London, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.

Across the road from us is Haskins Garden Centre which is a great place to pick-up garden supplies for our beautiful gardens.

If you are an avid football fan, Southampton is the home of the Southampton Saints whose home ground is a ten minute drive from the house. We also have Ageas Bowl Cricket Ground just 5 minutes away.

Communal spaces

We have many communal spaces for you to spend time relaxing or catching up with your friends and family. Our home has a comfortable lounge, dining room, cinema room, hairdressers, sun terrace, pub and a games room. 

Visit our light and bright Speedwell Court café, a favourite hangout for residents, their family and friends. Enjoy a macchiato, cappuccino or hot chocolate along with pastries, biscuits or cakes. Our café is also the place to enjoy live music and entertainment too.

Our garden is an immaculate large and secure outside space. With flat paved walkways for encouraging mobility and plenty of seating areas in which to sit and enjoy the sunshine, it truly is a great space to take advantage of. Our 3 resident chickens are a delight to watch and you are sure to be impressed with our ‘grow your own’ Fruit and Vegetable plot, managed with only organic practices. Our residents enjoy the freshest produce possible.

We have a very wide variety of activities and events that residents can take part in if they wish. Here is an example of what we have to offer:

We also have links with the local primary and preschool who love to visit our residents which is very much enjoyed by all.

Food

We provide three meals a day which are homemade by our in-house chef making good use of our kitchen garden which provides fresh produce. Mealtimes are very much enjoyed here at Speedwell Court as it is a time where everyone comes together.

Our catering team proudly create traditional home cooked meals providing a varied menu choice whilst engaging with residents to select preferences for the next season’s menus using our own home grown produce.

Dementia care in Southampton

Speedwell Court provides residential care and welcomes residents with dementia. It is designed to meet the individual needs of residents and improve quality of life. Our trained team create detailed care plans for individuals by working closely with residents and their families to ensure health and care needs are continually met. We will provide dementia care with fully trained staff to ensure their individual approach to dementia always reflects best practice.

We’re able to offer respite stays at Speedwell Court, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

At Speedwell Court our respite stays include:
