Situated in a wonderful location, within walking distance of Fareham town centre, Abbeyfield House offers older people security and companionship in later life. With our home being so close to the town centre, residents can walk to the bustling market town, and is also near to the beautiful area called Cams Hill and the mouth of the river Wallington, providing fabulous scenery and walking routes. For those wishing to travel further afield, we have a bus stop outside with buses to Portsmouth regularly passing the house for those wanting to explore the bright lights of the city and the seafront.
Built in the 1920s, Abbeyfield House is full of character with many of the original features, and is spacious as it is actually two houses which are joined together by a magnificent sun lounge which looks out onto the beautiful large garden.
We have 16 rooms and a guest room which is always available for any residents' visitors. All of our rooms have the luxury of a kitchenette and en-suite room bathroom, so you can remain independent.
Our sun lounge and garden are the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the sunshine; meet up with family and friends and catch up with the other residents whilst enjoying wonderful views. The special quiet place in the house is the lounge which is a perfect spot for reading a book or listening to the radio. The other special area is the beautiful garden which we keep well nurtured with fantastic colourful blooms in the summer months. In fact, we recently won “Fareham in Bloom” gold medal for our stunning garden.
Discover delicious home cooked meals that are personally cooked from local produce, with residents often letting the House Keeper know their favourites. We love to celebrate birthdays and our house keepers are brilliant bakers and every resident has a birthday cake presented to them on their special day.
At Abbeyfield House you'll find a warm and friendly home from home. We pride ourselves on an independent and personal service to our residents which is made unique by our dedicated team.
Abbeyfield House is managed by the Abbeyfield Fareham Society.
I am now in my 14th year at Abbeyfield as Housekeeper. I still love it as the day I started, It’s a dream job for me. I love looking after the elderly and love cooking.
I enjoy the surroundings and like the format of Abbeyfield. I love the residents and the staff are friendly. It's not like a care home as everyone is independent. Although my family are in Spain, I feel it’s my second home.
I really enjoy the interaction with the residents and hearing their stories! It’s an honour to provide a healthy and happy environment for this time of their lives.

Resident at Abbeyfield House
We count ourselves so lucky to have discovered Abbeyfield Fareham for my mum. Living there has provided her with the support and companionship she needed after my father died, whilst being able to maintain a degree of independence. Everyone works hard to make sure the residents have what they need and they are so kind and caring; it really does feel like a big family. I can’t praise them enough.
