At Abbeyfield House, Canvey Island, we provide comfortable and caring sheltered accommodation with assisted living for individuals over 55 years of age. We promote and offer a high quality service for independent residents and pride ourselves on providing a safe and comfortable home. We are very conscious of the issue of loneliness, and as well as friendship and support in the house, we are firmly rooted in the local community.

We opened the doors to our first Abbeyfield House in 1959, and are able to provide 11 comfortable and well-equipped rooms, complete with private bathrooms and mini kitchens allowing residents to have the best of both worlds; remaining independent but still having as much privacy as they want.

With CCTV cameras covering the outside of the house, we are able to provide a high level of security. Charging points for mobility scooters are also available in the communal garage. As the house is not staffed overnight we have a 24 hour Careline with each resident having a personal pendant and a phone line with direct connection to the help-line so that help is immediately available.

For when residents wish to socialise or get out of their room, there is a pleasant communal lounge with ample seating for residents and any visiting guests. We also have a comfortable dining room where you can meet with other residents, relax and spend a quiet moment or play games.

While away the warm days of summer, in our beautifully well-maintained and secluded gardens where residents with a green thumb can get their hands dirty. We have a collection of lovely furniture, including a gazebo where residents can enjoy the fresh air, peace and serenity with their friends and family all year round.

We are proud to be a key part of the community. We're within easy reach of local churches which include visits from the clergy, and the local town centre. You'll find excellent transport links with bus stops just outside the house, and the sandy beach of Canvey Island close by.

This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Canvey Island Society.
