Oxenford House care home was purpose built in 1989 and opened in 1990 it is a modern, comfortable and spacious home, with an airy conservatory that was added in 2006. The home accommodates 25 residents in single rooms, some of which are en-suite. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture and choose their room decoration to create a real home from home.
We offer three separate communal sitting rooms, spacious and open plan living dining room and comfortable bedrooms with telephone and TV points. We have call systems in each bedroom, bathroom and lounge so that residents can call for assistance any time, day or night.
We are located in the charming village of Cumnor which is lively with a brilliant local community who have supported us for the last 32 years. The house is 4 miles from the historic city of Oxford ad 5 miles from Abingdon on Thames. Within walking distance, the village we have a newsagent, village store and post office for our residents to visit. There is a regular bus service to Oxford and Abingdon on Thames which is perfect for residents to spend a day out. There are several public houses for meals out or afternoon teas and various places of worship, all of which contribute to a lively village community.
The care team is complemented by catering, domestic and administrative staff that are also fully trained in their area of expertise, and our landscaped grounds are cared for by our visiting weekly gardener. Oxenford House has its own GP from a local surgery who visits every other week (other times by appointment only and in the case of emergencies) and we can arrange visits by chiropodists, opticians and dentists, subject to the individual needs of each resident.
Our Residents are encouraged to continue to pursue and develop interests they have or would like to try for the first time and aim to provide the highest quality care at a fair price whilst enhancing the quality of life of each individual Resident. The attention to detail that comes from a totally dedicated and committed workforce is overseen by the General and Deputy Managers.
Oxenford House is managed by the Abbeyfield Oxenford Society.
I’ve worked in care for 20 years and love to be able to make a difference for residents. I find it very rewarding to spend time with our residents at Oxenford House.
I started at Oxenford House in 2011 and have worked up from a Care Assistant to the Deputy Manager. I enjoy working with my colleagues and help to support them every step of the way to reach their full potential.
My training enables me to support our residents, their families and friends and my colleagues. I really enjoy my role especially knowing our residents are content and happy.
We are encouraged to support and provide the best person-centred care to our residents, to ensure they are happy and healthy. The most rewarding aspect of my role is being able to help the residents live fulfilled lives.
I manage the catering team at Oxenford House and along with my colleagues, we provide delicious, home cooked, nutritional meals for our Residents.
I organise the activity planner at Oxenford House that includes outings, visiting entertainers, art and crafts sessions and scrabble and poetry clubs. I really enjoy seeing our residents happy and engaged in the activities.

Oxenford House is an amazing facility, which has supported three family members over the last 30 years. Most recently my mother. I can't thank them enough for their many kindnesses and fantastic work over many, many years. Outstanding!

My mother has only been at Oxenford for a couple of months, but I was very impressed by the warm welcome she was given on arrival and the care she has received since then. The day after she arrived, she was seen by the doctor, physio, and chiropodist. The management and carers are excellent, and they do all they can to make sure my mum is well looked after and happy. I'm so glad she's at Oxenford and would thoroughly recommend it.

My father moved to Oxenford House, settled in quickly and was very happy there. I think that was largely due to the happy atmosphere in the home and the excellent personalised care and genuine affection he received from the staff. Many of the carers have worked at Oxenford for several years and it is obvious that for them it is more of a vocation than just a job.

The food is good, the garden is very pleasant, and the activities programme is varied. The management team are friendly and efficient and communicate well with residents' families. I have visited relatives in other care homes and Oxenford is the best I have experienced. I don't think I could have chosen a better one for my father!
