Features
Welcome to Abbeyfield House, our Grade II listed building is a home from home for people looking to retain their independence but remain part of an active and social community.
Our home is made up of nine en-suite bedrooms which were renovated in 2013. The house also has a large communal kitchen and dining room, lounge and garden.
All bedrooms come unfurnished allowing residents to add their own personal touch with favourite items of furniture. Residents are welcome to decorate their room to their own taste, be it with new curtains or carpet.
Our wonderful housekeeper Joan keeps Abbeyfield House running smoothly and takes care of residents’ well-being. Joan is on hand throughout the day to assist resident and is also available during evenings for emergencies as she lives within the house too. Having worked at Abbeyfield House for 12 years and with Abbeyfield for years before that, Joan is well-versed with all things Abbeyfield. As one resident said, “Jean is everyone’s mum.”
As a home we are active within the local community, often connecting with local groups and other Abbeyfield Houses for events and activities. Each Thursday is Volunteers Day at Abbeyfield House, we are very lucky to have volunteers come in to cook and converse with our residents - it’s a day we all look forward to.
This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Southern Oaks Society.
