Situated in the quiet village of Burton Joyce in Nottinghamshire, Carnarvon House allows you to enjoy the companionship of others while also having the privacy and independence of your own accommodation. The village hosts many social groups and activities. Coffee mornings, community market and local church services being just a few.
Carnarvon House is close to many local amenities. Situated just round the corner is a post office, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, charity shop and Co-op. There are also several easy-access coffee shops to enjoy a leisurely afternoon.
With a shared kitchenette on each floor complete with all necessary appliances, Carnarvon House offers 13 unfurnished en-suite bedsits. We encourage residents to make their room their own, and you are more than welcome to redecorate. Rooms are light and spacious with the added bonus of high ceilings. Each en-suite has its own walk in shower, toilet and wash basin.
Residents are often found in the communal areas socialising with one another, volunteers, family and friends. There is always a jigsaw in progress and residents are welcome to watch the TV in the company of others. We have a beautiful garden which many residents enjoy maintaining, providing a colourful view all year round. There is a laundry situated on the ground floor which is available for all residents to use.
Onsite parking at the front of the building means that you can bring your own car if you wish to do so.
At Carnarvon House all meals are provided within the monthly charge. Breakfast is taken in your own room, with lunch and dinner provided in our light and spacious communal dining room. Meals are a sociable time where residents are encouraged to come together and enjoy some fresh, nutritious home-cooked food by the marvellous staff onsite.
The house is staffed from 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday and 8am-2pm on Sundays. 24 hour monitoring is available for resident’s peace of mind.
I joined Abbeyfield in 2013 as a General Assistant, shortly after I took on the role as a Housekeeper and then Senior House Manager in 2017. I support four houses at Abbeyfield which I really enjoy as I have a lot of residents that I can spend time with.
Yvonne joined Abbeyfield to reconnect with her passion for food. She is a trained chef and has a real talent when it comes to day-to-day food, hosting events and creating new recipes. Yvonne is always available when it comes to helping others and has a positive relationship with all involved at Carnarvon House.
Hannah joined Abbeyfield as a General Assistant in 2016. With her bubbly personality and passion for anything animal related she soon bonded with residents and relatives. Having four boys at home, she relishes the company of the residents and sharing stories of her home life, numerous hobbies and adventurous holidays.
Joseph joined Abbeyfield in 2015 as a volunteer. He soon progressed and showed that he had all of the attributes needed to work with older people. Joseph has a compassionate relationship with the residents, showing empathy and offering support on a daily basis. There is always singing and dancing when Joseph is around.
