Garden
Green fingered residents will love helping in the garden or while away the hours in the sunshine.
Harding House provides sheltered housing accommodation for older people in Exmouth, in 12 rooms and a two-storey maisonette. We have a stairlift and all rooms are unfurnished, allowing residents to bring their own furniture to create a real home from home.
The best features of the house include the lovely, bright, sunny lounge where residents meet in the mornings for coffee and chat and to watch the world go by. A door from the lounge leads via a gentle slope into the garden where, in summer, residents sit and chat or entertain guests outside. We also have a summerhouse for residents’ use. Occasional Summer or Autumn Fayres are held in our garden.
All cleaning of rooms and communal areas and personal laundry is provided by our staff so no resident needs to worry about washing, ironing or cleaning unless they want to do extra light dusting in between!
There are some useful local shops just over the road providing all the basics – a supermarket, hairdresser, post office, bakery and charity shop are included.
Our dedicated House Manager and Deputy ensure the house is warm, comfortable, safe and welcoming. Additional support is provided by our other staff and a care line provider when the staff are away from the premises. Each resident has a pendant alarm and additional call points are situated in the communal areas.
Our House Manager and Deputy Cook all produce home-cooking of a very high standard. Presentation is very important and all meals are a visual feast as well as a nutritious one! All of the residents comment on the variety and high standard of the food and their tastes and preferences are always taken into account.
Our cooks are flexible and are able to cater, or have catered, for diabetics, coeliacs and vegetarians as well as other special diets such as low potassium and foods low in phytates.
Harding House is managed by Abbeyfield Exmouth Society.
