Westall House have been named COVID Heroes by Mid-Sussex locals
Last year MP of Mid Sussex, Mims Davies, asked residents across the county to nominate their COVID Heroes: people, businesses and organisations who have gone above and beyond to help others in the local community, among which Westall House were nominated.
The past 15 months have been some of the most challenging we have ever seen, but through this, we have seen some truly incredible acts of kindness, care and perseverance from those willing to go to extraordinary lengths to help others. People, businesses and organisations across all areas went beyond the call of duty to help one and other through.
Many community initiatives were created across the country; for Mid-Sussex, the ‘COVID Heroes’ awards were set up to honour those who had gone to those extraordinary lengths to help others throughout their community.
Mid Sussex’s MP, Mims Davies, asked residents across Mid Sussex to nominate their Heroes and the response was overwhelming, with 73 nominations in total. Following this, certificates were sent out to all 73 nominees, who were all invited to a Zoom Celebration evening with MP Mims on March 12th, 2021, of which 42 nominees attended including Abbeyfield Westall House.
Jemma Thompson, long-term Operations Manager of Westall House said, “I am so incredibly proud of all the staff at Westall House. Each and every one of the team have been so devoted throughout the pandemic. On a daily basis, they put themselves at risk to make sure that the residents were safe and cared for at all times, they gave up time with family members and many were prepared to move in if the need arose – luckily it didn’t. I could not be prouder.”
