Welcome to our house

Overlooking the beautiful Hanham common, with its summer cricket and children’s playground, Kift Lodge provides enjoyable countryside views with the advantages of city life nearby.

Kift Lodge is a light, spacious house, purpose-built by Abbeyfield after the former house and land were generously bequeathed to us by a gentleman named Peter Kift: a well-loved local character.

Local community groups hold regular meetings at the house, and the adjoining Common is always busy with dog walkers, and families – a great place to take your grandchildren when they visit. Many residents take daily walks around the Common, from which there are lovely views to the hills beyond.

The extensive gardens around the house are beautifully tended by our gardeners – with quiet areas to sit and enjoy the flowers, and plenty of raised beds for you to tend if you wish. There is even a boules court if you’re feeling energetic … and competitive!

Kift Lodge is about 5 miles from Bristol city centre, with easy access to the M4 and Bath.

Kift Lodge is managed by Abbeyfield Bristol and Keynsham Society.

What's happening at Kift Lodge

Daily coffee morning

Start your day right with a coffee morning, catching up with your friends and neighbours.

Activities throughout the week

There are many activities on offer including; daily coffee morning, crafting, library, poetry reading, keep-fit, music evenings, games night, quizzes, dancing, visiting speakers, faith groups, film events and historical clubs.

We also have strong community links and regularly welcome local children from Brownie groups and local pre-schools and primary schools to engage in multi-generational projects.

Trips together

Many trips are on offer such as, local trips to the garden centre or other attractions, regular shopping trips, seaside excursions, trips to the theatre and concerts, plus dining trips to restaurants and pubs.

Christmas and more

We love to open our doors to family, friends and neighbours in the summer for garden parties and at Christmas for social gatherings, parties and lunches. The house will often host special celebratory occasions (such a special birthdays/anniversaries) as well as regular annual events at Easter and at other holiday times.
