Features
At The Firs Complex, we offer independent living in 42 properties, a mixture of both bungalows and flats. All of our properties are self-contained with their own kitchens and bathrooms.
While the majority of properties have one bedroom, we do have a handful of two bedroom properties, which are ideal for those who would like that extra bit of living space. The scheme is mixed tenure with 60% of the residents being leaseholders.
With part of the complex previously being used as a maternity hospital, some of our residents were born here, some had their babies here and some worked here. Members of the public have visited to have a tour of the house, as it is where they were born or where their parents were born.
The Firs Complex is just a short walk from the main shopping street in Sherwood, with plenty of cafes and pubs for you to try if you wish. There are also charity shops and a co-op as well as a dentist and an optician.
We’re close by to bus stops, making travel across the city easy.
We have a communal lounge where residents enjoy coming together for activities, which they run themselves. They have quizzes, crafts, games and film afternoons. We have volunteers who come every other week, to do crafts with residents and help out with any jobs that you may need. We often have birthday parties in the lounge and enjoy events throughout the year such as a summer fair and Christmas carol service. On bank holidays, we treat ourselves with cake and wine afternoons.
At The Firs Complex, we are real micro-community. Residents look after one another as much as the staff do.
This property is managed by Abbeyfield Living Society (a trading name of The Abbeyfield Society).
