Our location

Situated in the Sherwood district of Nottingham, Sandwood Residential Care home is a purpose built home with 31 single ensuite rooms.

The home is in a vibrant area of Sherwood with the busy high street close by. We are in walking distance of many shops, restaurants, cafes, churches, the library and a post office. We have several bus stops close by as well as the Nottingham Community Transport bus who run a door to door service for those who can't access public transport.

Our home

At Sandwood Residential Care Home, our fantastic team will help support you in making your own decisions about how you want to live your life. We recognise the importance of maintaining relationships with your family and friends and will support you in pursuing any hobbies and interests you have.

Sandwood Care Home not only provides residential care but also welcomes residents with dementia. We have designed the home to meet the individual needs of residents and improve quality of life. Our staff will take care to create detailed care plans for individuals by working closely with them and their families to ensure health and care needs are continually met. We will provide dementia care with fully trained staff to ensure their individual approach to dementia always reflects best practice.

Activities and events

By getting to know residents and learning about your interests and hobbies, we organise a varied programme of events and social activities which you are welcome to join in with if you wish. We have regular film afternoons, visits from the local library, and fantastic live music from local performers. We also arrange trips on a regular basis, taking in suggestions from residents about the places they would like to visit. In the past we have visited garden centres, gone on river boat trips, and been to the local theatre to enjoy some incredible shows. At Sandwood Care Home, we aim to ensure that our fantastic social calendar includes something for everyone, with every opportunity to pursue existing hobbies and try out some new things too.

We encourage residents to decorate the rooms to their liking with their own furniture and personal items to help feel right at home.

Food

The meals served at Sandwood Care Home are served in our own spacious and bright dining room. A fantastic choice of meals are offered daily from an eight-week seasonal menu. We cater for all preferences and dietary requirements, with our cooks available daily to provide dietary advice and information. You are able to have meals in your own room if desired.

Visitors are always welcome at the house. We also have the opportunity for friends and family members to stay over if they wish. For the comfort of other residents, we do ask that your visitors avoid coming in at meals times or very late in the evening.

Management response:

We are pleased to say that, during a targeted inspection in June 2021, CQC acknowledged the improvements that had been made to the quality of service in line with the action plan implemented following the previous inspection in 2019. Nonetheless, the overall rating for the service stayed the same as the CQC did not inspect all areas of the service. In addition, the service has since changed and no longer provides nursing care, while we have undertaken a programme of continuous improvement to improve quality across the home.
