Downing House was built in early 1980 and officially opened by her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales in December 1983. The house is a residential care home offering high quality care for up to 25 people in a purpose built house.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and decorations in order to make their rooms as homely as possible. We support our residents in making their own decisions about how they want to live their life.
Our lounge has recently been renovated and offers a comfortable, homely atmosphere for your to sit and enjoy some quiet time to yourself or meet with other residents. We have our own cinema room with projector screen and surround sound which is a very popular feature.
The gardens are newly re-designed following a consultation with both residents and their families, with improved access for those with restricted mobility.
We recognise the importance of maintaining relationships with family and friends and we encourage residents in pursuing hobbies and interests by offering a variety of activities from in house entertainment to outings.
Our home is very special to us as everyone is part of one big family and we all love and care for eachother. There is always something happening at the house as we have an amazing Activities Coordinator who goes above and beyond to keep everyone entertained. The carers here are always willing to go the extra mile for our residents, nothing is too much to ask.
Another popular feature at Downing House are the pets we have, including fish and a budgie!

We were invited to have a look around Downing House and was very surprised at how nice the place was. So clean and everyone couldn't do enough for us. I was very happy to leave mum there for a week's respite. We will be using Downing House from now on.Family of a resident
