Features
Oxenford House is a purpose built, comfortable and spacious care home which was opened in 1990. We pride ourselves on providing outstanding person-centred care for our residents. We also offer day and respite care.
The home accommodates 25 residents in single rooms, some of which are en-suite. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture and choose their room decoration to create a real home from home. We have a spacious and open plan lounge and dining area together with three additional smaller areas for residents and their visitors. These include a cinema style room with comfortable chairs, an additional café style room and a conservatory. There are telephone and TV points in all bedrooms. We have call systems in each bedroom, bathroom and lounge so that residents can call for assistance any time, day or night. Outside we have attractive gardens full of flowers and these are well cared for by our own maintenance manager.
We are located to the west of Oxford City in the charming village of Cumnor which is lively with a brilliant local community who have supported us for the last 34 years. The village has a general store and post office, local church(s) and two pubs serving food. The home has recently acquired a suitably adapted car which is used to take residents out and help with the transport needs of residents and their relatives. Our activities co-ordinator organises many activities and trips out for the residents. Our residents are encouraged to continue to pursue and develop interests they have or would like to try for the first time.
The care team is complemented by catering, domestic, maintenance and administrative staff that are also fully trained in their area of expertise. Oxenford House has its own GP from a local surgery who visits every other week (and is available for specific appointments and emergencies.) In addition, we have a physiotherapist who visits regularly as well as a hairdresser who comes every week. We also arrange visits by chiropodists, opticians and dentists as needed by the residents.
We aim to provide the highest quality care at a fair price whilst enhancing the quality of life of each individual Resident. The attention to detail that comes from a totally dedicated and committed workforce is overseen by the General Manager and her team.
Oxenford House is managed by the Abbeyfield Oxenford Society.Limited, an exempt charity regulated by the F.C.A.
