Welcome to our house

Located in the friendly suburban village of Winnersh near Wokingham, Winnersh is a purpose built, dementia friendly, innovate residential care home, which has been developed to allow freedom of movement throughout. We offer personalised and tailored care to meet all of your needs deliver by our friendly, professional and caring team of staff who are dedicated to exceeding your care expectations.

Our rooms have been designed with our residents in mind; we have 62 en-suite bedrooms, each with a brightly coloured door complete with letterbox and street lamp. In your room, you’ll find specialty furniture that’s been designed to create easy access to your clothes and locate your items quickly.  We encourage you to bring our favourite pieces of furniture, maybe your favoured armchair, treasured photos, special ornaments or pictures for your walls, to make you feel right at home.

Although each room is en-suite, you’ll discover separate spa-bathrooms with sensory lighting and the technology to play your favourite relaxing music. We also have a beauty salon, communal and private lounges, cinema, shop and café that you can use at your leisure with your family and friends too. Additionally, for residents and families who wish to get creative in the kitchen, we have an independent kitchen where you can cook and bake together.

Our large, peaceful garden features a sensory garden and we have a wonderful rooftop terrace; lovely places to explore or spend a quiet moment relaxing. We recently built two summerhouses so you can enjoy your activities and hobbies throughout the year, and have a fun area with a climbing frame, for younger visitors, with ample seating so you can enjoy watching them play.

Meet the team

Sue
House Manager

I have worked in health care for over 30 years. People are my passion and it is my mission to ensure all our residents are happy and live to the best version of themselves as they can.

Nicola
Head of Care

Abbeyfield Winnersh is not like any other home I have worked in. The residents make our home now, they carry out their lives the way they wish. If this means staying in the cinema till 2am, they are more than welcome to do so!

Courtney
Occupational Therapist

My role ensures your loved ones remain as independent as possible and partake in meaningful activities. I'm also here to support staff as well as the family and friends of Winnersh residents.

Patsy
Head of Dementia Support

I have worked in various positions and care settings over the last 20 years, and I can safely say that Abbeyfield Winnersh is by far the best. Abbeyfield’s ethos, design, amazing team and lovely residents make it a pleasure to come to work every day, and I look forward to many more years spent here.
