Located in the heart of the Chiltern Hills, Abbeyfield House in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire is set in an area of natural outstanding beauty. Our house was purpose built in the mid 1970’s and has since been extended and comprises of 16 rooms, all of varying size, with kitchenettes, to allow our residents to make breakfast in the morning at their own pace for a gentle start to the day. Most of our rooms also have en-suite facilities.
What makes Abbeyfield House special is our location. Being in the centre of the village means were in close proximity to local shops, library, a pharmacy, Post Office, churches, restaurants, cafes and pubs, as well as, good transport links – we are 40 minutes away from London by train. The Roald Dahl Museum is also within walking distance.
We pride ourselves on offering our residents a welcoming, friendly and relaxed, homely environment and are supported by a dedicated and caring team of trustees, staff and volunteers.
Our house has recently been renovated with a new kitchen installed in 2017, and during 2018 we had our furniture reupholstered, had new carpets fitted and redecorated our communal lounge and dining room.
Wifi is available in the communal areas and residents rooms therefore there is no need for residents to install their own landline, however they can add one if they wish.
For residents who wish to make new friends and companions, our welcoming communal lounge, with views of the village, or dining room, where a delicious home-cooked lunch and high tea is served, provide the perfect location to get to know other residents in the home. Or if you’d prefer you can meet in our beautiful well-kept gardens and courtyard, where friends and family are always welcome.
This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Great Missenden District Society.
