Features
Positioned on the edge of the beautiful Georgian town centre of Farnham, Surrey, Hatch Mill is a residential home offering residential and nursing care for older people. Our home is close to a bus route and train station serving the local area and London. Within a ten minute walk there are an array of local shops, restaurants and facilities such as the leisure centre, arts centre and theatre. You'll also find Farnham Maltings, Museum of Farnham and Farnham Castle a short drive away.
Our two-storey, residential care and nursing home has a total of 45 bedrooms, two of which are double bedrooms and the remainder being single rooms. All of our bedrooms are en-suite with a basin and toilet; some also have a wet room. There are also two bathrooms and a shower room downstairs and two bathrooms and two shower rooms upstairs. Furniture is provided, but residents are encouraged to bring their own personal items like small furniture, ornaments and photographs to make your room feel like home.
We also offer tailored respite care packages which are available on an individual basis throughout the year.
Socialising and making friends is easy, we have a dining room and a residents’ lounge on each floor and a large sun lounge downstairs at the front of the building. The home is set in well laid out grounds with a large central Japanese courtyard garden, the perfect place to enjoy a breath of fresh air. In the garden you'll find several mature trees, flowering shrubs and a natural pond, all of which are well maintained and give a pleasant picture for our residents to view.
Our highly skilled team of carers and nurses provide a secure, relaxed and homely environment at Hatch Mill. The ethos of the charity is to develop the wellbeing of all the residents through carefully tailored individual support and care. Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society has a passion for providing year round activities and trips for residents that promote engagement of both body and mind.
Happy people make for happy homes and residents are invited to decide on the kinds of activities they would like to take part in themselves.

Having joined the team in 2022, I support Tammie with the day to day running of the home. I really enjoy ensuring the family and friends of our residents are a very much included in the care process. Knowing everyone is involved in the care journey really helps our residents settle into the community very quickly.
Michael
Deputy Manager

I've been part of the Hatch Mill Activities team for a number of years and we have such fun on a daily basis both in the home and on our many trips out. My job really does give me "food for my sole".

Testimonials
“My Mum has called Abbeyfield 'home' for the past 7 years, firstly at Wey Valley House and the last 2 years at Hatch Mill. During that time, she has received exemplary care and compassion from the excellent staff and carers. I have always felt that Mum is safe, clean and extremely well looked after. One outstanding aspect of her time at Abbeyfield has been the wide range of activities arranged - these have been, I believe, especially enjoyed during the Covid-19 pandemic. I would recommend Abbeyfield Wey Valley House and Hatch Mill unreservedly.”

“I transferred my sister to Hatch Mill from a care home in Frimley after being impressed with the outstanding care my mother-in-law received in Hatch Mill. The staff are kind, dedicated and caring and the majority have worked there for many years which speaks volumes. They all do their utmost to meet the needs of all the residents and provide an amazing environment in which to live when the time comes when you can't manage on your own. It needs to be seen to be believed. The management and staff work as one incredible team and the way they have coped with Covid-19 confirms this. All credit to them - they deserve to be applauded.”

“My mum was at Hatch Mill for nearly a year, and before that at Wey Valley House, the sister home for almost a year. In that time she was consistently cared for extremely well by a friendly, conscientious and highly professional staff. Lots of personal touches, and outings and social events (pre-lockdown). Can’t recommend them highly enough.”

“My mother became a resident in Hatch Mill in March 2020. During this difficult time the staff in the home have been excellent in helping her settle in and she is very happy. The home is light and bright and provides a welcoming environment.”
